Minecraft Tournament Allowing Kids To Explore A Virtual Disney World

Kids in the area have a chance to experience Disney World through a Minecraft tournament.

Youth Unlimited Upper Canada has organized several video game tournaments throughout the pandemic, allowing kids a chance to connect with others in creative ways, and having them compete for prizes.

Nic Crowe is the organizer and he says their past tournaments have been fairly successful.

“We did an ‘Among Us’ tournament, and a ‘Fortnite’ tournament, and they really brought students from all over the area together. So, we’re really encouraging students in the Upper Canada area to sign up.”

The contest will include a scavenger hunt, where players explore the virtual Disney World to find items.

Crowe says these types of events allow kids to connect with new friends and create long lasting memories.

“Some kids tell me they still talk to other kids they met through the tournament, which is awesome. And then it’s also just to give kids a chance to enjoy a Friday night. I know Friday’s can be appealing to do other things, so why not do it this way and maybe win some cash prizes.”

The event is for kids in grades 4-12 and takes place Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
