Municipality Asking Residents To Prepare For New Waste Management Program

Taking out the trash will be a little different for residents going forward.

The municipality is getting ready to introduce its new waste management program on February 1st – which will include organics collection, seasonal curbside pick-up of leaf and yard waste, and large, bulky items.

Garbage collection will happen every other week, while recycling will remain the same.

“As we prepare for the new waste management program, we encourage you to carefully review the Solid Waste, Recycling and Organics Collection Guide to better understand the new waste management program,” Mayor Nancy Peckford said. “Council recognizes that this will be a significant transition and we are committed to actively working with residents and businesses to get it right.”

Green bins will be delivered to each home between January 18 – 27.

Included in that bin will be a smaller kitchen bin and the new Waste, Recycling and Organics Collection Guide with details on the program – including the updated 2021 Collection Calendar.

Call the municipality if your bin has not arrived by January 28.

Meanwhile, there is NO bag tag requirement for the weekly organic pick-up, however, they are still required for the bi-weekly solid waste program.

For those living in apartments and multi-units, you should contact your property manager for details on organics collection.

The program provides North Grenville with additional services encouraging waste diversion and reducing the ecological footprint of the municipality.
