Tourism strategy being developed for North Grenville

A tourism strategy is being developed for the Municipality of North Grenville.

On Thursday, the municipality announced they hired MDB Insight to conduct the strategic process with plans to present the final plan to Council at the end of February 2021. North Grenville says the strategy will guide the municipality’s tourism efforts as an emerging tourism destination.

Mayor Nancy Peckford says tourism represents a critical opportunity for the community and economy.

“We are blessed with many exciting attractions including the wonderful Ferguson and Limerick Forests, the Rideau Canal Waterway, in addition to Kemptville Creek, walking trails, as well as diverse local businesses and so much more.”

Deputy Mayor Jim McManaman says as the tourism and hospitality sector was one of the hardest hit during the pandemic, the aim is to help guide and grow the industry with this strategy.

The municipality also says the strategy will align with the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan and the upcoming Kemptville Campus Master Plan.

Workshops and information sessions will be announced later this Fall for residents, business owners and industry stakeholders to provide input.
