Frontline and construction jobs continue to be in demand in North Grenville

North Grenville continues to see a demand for frontline and construction jobs right now.

That is according to Job Developer and Employment Consultant Tracy McDonald from CSE Consulting. McDonald says there is more demand for frontlines for health care than frontlines in the service industry at this point.

McDonald says because of COVID protocols they’ve had an increase in demand for cleaners in the community. They are also taking a lot of AZ and DZ driver positions too.

“I think there has been a reluctance on the side of the job seekers to get out into the workforce and that’s definitely indicative of the fear of contracting the COVID as well. I think that the government has provided a good resource with the CERB and as a result the benefit to staying at home and protecting your family and keeping flattening the curve was very evident for some time.”

McDonald says as they’re starting to see an increase as people transitioning off of CERB and having to transition to EI, they’re definitely starting to see an increase of job seekers now.

When asked if the increase in job demand is a good indication of a strong local economy, McDonald says, personally, she feels North Grenville has as strong local economy as the community has always rallied around shopping local.
