Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Health Unit Releases Boating Safety Tips

With the warm weather here, the Health Unit is reminding residents to stay safe on the water.
As local boat launches open for the May Long Weekend, the Unit is offering safety tips for boaters and fishers. Above all they urge people to maintain their physical distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19. They remind residents that gatherings larger than 5 people are not permitted, and to boat or fish either by yourself or with people you live with. They also urge people to not fish where prohibited.
In addition, they say to not move any barriers placed by the local authorities, be mindful of where to empty your garbage, and follow Water Safety Guidelines. They also note that marinas are still off limits for public use and to not use facilities that are identified as closed by the provincial emergency orders. This includes parks, playgrounds, ball diamonds and picnic tables.
