Public input needed for Kemptville Campus

A master plan is in the works for the Kemptville Campus. The public is invited to provide feedback during an open house on February 10. The event is being held at the W.B. George Centre, from 5:30 to 8:30pm.

North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says the theme is ‘regeneration’ of the campus.

Consultants will be on site gathering input from residents about what they envision for the campus. Peckford noted the goal is to set the path forward as a community.

She explained stakeholder engagement will continue into March and a draft master plan will be presented later that month.

Peckford says the campus boasts many assets, including partnerships with three school boards. She noted there’s opportunity to talk about how to fill the skills gap in Eastern Ontario, by getting high school students connected with apprenticeship programs and thinking strategically about entering the trades.

Deputy Mayor Jim McManaman explained his personal vision is to see very specialized agricultural programs being offered at the campus. He says the specialized skills could be unique across Ontario, focusing on technology and robotics.
