Man thanks Connect Youth for keeping him off the streets

Tristan Hunter was on the verge of homelessness when he reached out to Connect Youth.

He was 18 at the time and had just been evicted from the apartment he shared with his dad.

Hunter says he knew about the organization through the Kemptville Youth Centre and put in a call. A day or two later, he was set up at Connect Youth’s temporary shelter in Kemptville.

Hunter says the staff were very kind and generous. Connect Youth supplied him with groceries and helped him figure out employment options to get back on his feet.

He spent the next few months at the shelter, eventually moving to a permanent housing situation elsewhere in town. He has been there for over two years and currently works at a local gas station.

Hunter, now 21, aspires to be a writer. He noted homelessness is an issue in Leeds and Grenville and organizations like Connect Youth make a big difference in the lives of youth. Hunter explained he’s grateful to everyone at Connect Youth for being there when he needed help.

He says if you’re in a bad situation, don’t hesitate to call and ask for help.

Connect Youth, based in Prescott, serves people throughout Leeds and Grenville. For more information about the organization, click here
