73’s outfit local kids for hockey

Around 100 kids were offered free gear and a hockey skills session. The Kemptville 73’s, in partnership with Canadian Tire and the Kemptville District Minor Hockey Association, ran a hockey equipment drive last month. The items collected were passed out at the North Grenville Municipal Centre on Sunday.

Jason York, 73’s co-owner and coach, says the equipment drive went really well. He noted the partners are hoping to do it again in the fall. York says the team’s goal is to get more involved in the community.

He explained hockey is an expensive sport, which is why fellow 73’s owners Paul Le Breux and Joe Jefferies, along with their spouses, and Canadian Tire owner Frank Hoffman, decided to help out local families.

The home opener for the 73’s is set for September 6. Kids get in to all games free.
