Southgate Community Church is breaking ground on its expansion project. The church is hosting a free family fun day to mark the milestone. The community is invited to take part in the festivities on Sunday, from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
Organizer Tanys Mosher says there will be something for everyone, including face painting, an obstacle course, bouncy castles and first responder vehicles. She says Big Sky Ranch is bringing some of their animals for the Kids Zone.
Food trucks will be on site to provide refreshments. The formal groundbreaking ceremony is set for 12:00 noon. The Southgate expansion includes a 500-seat auditorium, indoor play structure and a new outdoor rink. Â
Mosher says the rink and play structure will be open to the whole community at no charge. She says the play structure space will be similar to the Playplace at McDonald’s in Brockville.
The expansion project is broken down into two phases, slated to be completed in 12 to 18 months.
A free shuttle service will be available at Tackaberry & Sons on 43, due to limited parking on site. Â
