Local woman to shave head if Walmart raises $15,000 for CHEO

Walmart Kemptville is running a fundraising campaign for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Ann Lalonde, Oxford Mills resident and Walmart employee, says she’ll shave her head if the $15,000 goal is met. The campaign launched on May 9 and runs until May 31 at 10:00pm. Over $7,500 has been raised so far.

Lalonde says she decided to help out after visiting the hospital and meeting CHEO Champion Eric Sears, who has diabetes. She says his story inspired her to get involved. Lalonde says it’s been six years since she donated her hair, which is something she started doing at the age of 12.

She explained the hair will go to the Angel Hair for Kids Foundation, which works directly with CHEO to donate hair to patients.

Lalonde plans on shaving her head on June 3 is everything goes as planned. People can donate to the cause when going through the cashes at Walmart.
