Family of four displaced by house fire

A local family is homeless following a structure fire on Oxford Station Road. The North Grenville Fire Service got the call around 5:00pm on Saturday.

Deputy Fire Chief Randy Urslak says the house was fully-involved when crews arrived. He says firefighters made a defensive attack from the outside.

The bungalow with attached garage burned to the ground.

The family was away camping in Calabogie at the time of the fire. Homeowner Jon Earle, along with his wife and two kids, lost everything in the fire. No pets were injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. Urslak says the fire service will be looking into it, but the house so so heavily consumed it will be difficult to pinpoint the fire’s origin.

Insurance has the family covered for housing while they are displaced, but they are in need of clothes, household supplies and pet food.

Family member Kristin Emslie started a crowdfunding campaign for the family. Around $1,500 has been raised so far.
