Aquaworld one step closer to breaking ground

The Aquaworld Resort and Convention Centre could be shovel-ready by the spring of 2020. The $115-million project is one step closer to breaking ground.

Developer Stefano Ferrante says the land purchase is moving forward. He says there was a waiver of conditions, which took it from a conditional sale to a firm sale, set to close at the end of April.

Ferrante plans on building Aquaworld on a 260-acre property on Merwin Lane in Prescott. Work on the project started back in 2014 and sped up in 2016.

The developer is currently working on architectural drawings and schematics, including plumbing and electrical. Engineering and environmental reports for the project were submitted for review.

Ferrante says phase one of the project will feature 140 hotel rooms, a convention centre, buffet, indoor water park, outdoor spa and kids’ zone.

Phase two includes 60 cottages on the surrounding property and phase three includes 150 hotel rooms.

Ferrante says he hopes Aquaworld will open its doors in 2022.
