The Navy League and Sea Cadets in Kemptville are looking for more volunteers and participants. The two programs are free for boys and girls. The Navy League is open to kids ages 9 to 12 and the Sea Cadets is for youth ages 12 to 18.
The program includes activities like fielding a biathlon team that enters competitions. A simulator center is being developed for the cadets, which will be used to teach them about navigation and sea-going.
President Peter Milsom says participation numbers ebb and flow. He says overcoming this means putting together a strong group for the two cores.
Volunteers are also needed for the Board of Directors. Both the Navy League and Sea Cadets are short on volunteers.
Milsom says the organization is focused on building its board. He says there are a number of positions to fill with the elections coming up on February 2.
