Fill-a-Bag brings in over 33,000 pounds of food for Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Food Bank shelves are stocked. This year’s Fill-a-Bag campaign brought in over 33,000 pounds of food. Bags were dropped off on November 25 and picked up on December 2.

This is the 10th year the North Grenville Community Church (NGCC) has run Fill-a-Bag.

NGCC representative Charly Stewart says volunteers picked up about 1,350 bags full of groceries. He says each bag holds about 25 pounds of food.

All donations were brought to Christmas Central at the former Giant Tiger to be sorted. Christmas Hampers are now being put together for food bank clients.

Stewart says he would like to mention all the people that helped out with Fill-a-Bag. He says everyone from high school students, to Beavers, Sea Cadets and local businesses came together to make the campaign a success.
