North Grenville Council Discussing Second Intake of CIP

Over $23,000 was recommended to award property owners through North Grenville’s Community Improvement Program (CIP).

This is the second time in 2018 the CIP opened up to property owners in the Rideau-Sanders-Prescott triangle. The budget was at just over $33,000 for the second intake, which would leave a $10,000 surplus that will go into general reserves.

Director of Planning and Development Phil Gerrard says there are a number of projects that were sent to the Civic Awards Committee for approval.

“With the $23,000 worth of grants that are being applied for, the total amount of the renovations is $165,000. So that’s $165,000 worth of capital infrastructure into private homes and businesses on our main street.”

For the past two years, $50,000 was budgeted for the CIP each year. Requests ranged from $475 to $5,000. Council is set to make the final decision on Tuesday night.
