St. Paul’s hosting concert to bring in dollars for Syrian refugees

A fundraising concert is being held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Kemptville. The event is set for tomorrow beginning at 7:00pm.

There is no cost to attend but donations towards the Seaway-Glengarry Presbytery Syrian Family Fund are being accepted. Live entertainment will be provided by the Barrhaven Fiddleheads.

Organizer Heather Stewart says the group plays old time fiddle music and songs that inspire audience participation. Refreshments will be served following the concert.

The Seaway-Glengarry Presbytery sponsored a Syrian refugee family of five, who live in Kemptville. The group has also sponsored a single woman and plans on sponsoring two more refugees in the next two years.

Stewart says it’s very rewarding seeing the family of five contributing to the community. She says they are very thankful to be in Canada and that’s what it’s all about.

The concert is open to the whole community.
