Mayoral candidate Nancy Peckford focuses on quality of life

Nancy Peckford is making a bid for mayor in North Grenville. Peckford has over 20 years experience working in politics and the nonprofit sector.

Peckford says taking a close look at the municipality’s finances is one of her top priorities. She says the rate of tax increases in North Grenville is becoming unaffordable for many families.

Peckford says focusing on quality of life is important. She says the congestion and safety issues on County Road 43 need to be addressed. A three-way dialogue between the province, federal government and United Counties of Leeds and Grenville about getting dollars for the project is something Peckford wants to see done.

She says a smart and sustainable growth strategy needs to be put in place for the municipality. Peckford says growth has to be balanced and shouldn’t negatively impact current residents. She is not in favour of North Grenville becoming the next Barrhaven and wants the community to keep its small town feel.

Peckford wants to see more employment opportunities in North Grenville. She says most people leave the community every morning and don’t get to enjoy or invest in the community.

The My Kemptville Now newsroom is interviewing all councillor and mayoral candidates for North Grenville. All profiles will be posted online by Friday. The 2018 Municipal Election is set for October 22.
