Councillor candidate Barb Tobin focuses on maintaining tax rate

Barb Tobin is seeking a fourth term as councillor in North Grenville. Tobin was first elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 and 2014.

She says her biggest priority is maintaining a reasonable tax rate and good value of services for the municipality. Tobin says improving communication is another priority and North Grenville has made strides by live streaming council meetings.

She says the expansion of County Road 43 is a key infrastructure project for the municipality. Tobin says the project is shovel ready and council needs to keep pushing for provincial and federal dollars.

Tobin is also focused on the Kemptville Campus Hub, which brings economic development opportunities to the community.

She says the trail system in North Grenville is a valuable asset and promotes healthy lifestyles. Putting together a Recreation Master Plan for the community is something she wants to see done.

Tobin has served on many committees and boards, including the North Grenville Public Library, Heritage Advisory, Active Transportation and Emergency Management. She says getting out into the community and talking to people about their concerns and goals is an important part of being a councillor.

The My Kemptville Now newsroom is interviewing all councillor and mayoral candidates for North Grenville. All profiles will be posted online by Friday. The 2018 Municipal Election is set for October 22.
