Live entertainment, reenactors and blacksmith demonstrations are all part of Merrickville Canalfest. The event is set for this Saturday and Sunday. It runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm both days. Chair Steve Hurndell says people can experience the Rideau Canal firsthand.
Parks Canada will also have an information booth set up at Canalfest. An encampment of reenactors will be on site throughout the weekend. Hurndell says Canalfest is about celebrating Merrickville’s history.
Children’s activities, including face painting and science shows, will run throughout the weekend. Canalfest is held at Blockhouse Park in Merrickville. Admission is free.
