Councillor Jim Bertram is back to work. After stepping away from his municipal duties back in February due to health issues, Bertram attended his first council meeting last night. He has two types of cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment. Bertram says he is pushing himself.
Bertram starts another round of chemo next week and will likely miss the next two council meetings. He hopes to attend the meeting on July 9. His treatment wraps up at the end of July and he plans to back full-time in August. Bertram says he will have to wait and see how things go.
Bertram withdrew his nomination papers to run for Councillor yesterday and put his name forward to run for Mayor in the upcoming municipal election.
