OPP respond to nearly 200 calls over Father’s Day weekend

The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP were busy this weekend. Officers responded to 182 calls between Friday and Monday.

The OPP were called out to a domestic situation in North Dundas on Friday night. Investigation showed a man assaulted his girlfriend on multiple occasions. A 36-year-old Ottawa man was charged with two counts of assault and one count of forcible detainer. He is scheduled to appear in Cornwall Court on July 3.

Two impaired drivers were charged on Sunday. Officers responded to a two vehicle collision on County Road 16 in South Dundas. They investigated and found that a man had struck a parked car while driving under the influence of alcohol. A 32-year-old South Dundas man was charged.

Later that same day, officers were called out to a single vehicle crash on the 401. The 42-year-old Ottawa man was charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired. Both men are scheduled to appear in Cornwall Court on July 3.

Officers responded to a report of a stolen truck on Sunday morning. The truck was taken from a residence on Groves Road sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The truck is a 2005 white GMC Silverado EXT short box. The plates are AK54605.
