New Learning Garden provides hands on education at Holy Cross

A new Learning Garden at Holy Cross Catholic School is providing life skills to students. From growing vegetables, to the importance of pollination, the Learning Garden has widened the scope of education. Teacher Nancy Granda says the idea came from the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.

The Learning Garden was made possible by a $600 Outdoor Education grant and community donations. The garden includes raised boxes, a variety of plants and a Mason bee house. Granda says volunteers will be needed to keep the garden going.

The kindergarten classes and two grade four classes are currently involved in the project. Workshops on planting and beekeeping have already been offered to students thanks to the Learning Garden.
