Council wants clarification before approving BIA budget

North Grenville council wants a few questions answered before they’ll approve the BIA budget. Representatives from the Old Town Kemptville BIA presented the 2018 budget to council on Monday night. BIA chair Debbie Wilson says the BIA continues to face challenges.

The purpose of the BIA is to promote economic growth in downtown Kemptville. BIA treasurer Stephen Bent says the BIA did a lot last year.

Deputy mayor Barb Tobin raised some concerns with the budget. Tobin says she doesn’t understand the jump in management fees from $16,000 last year to over $20,000 this year.

The total proposed budget for the BIA is $27,540. Staff were directed to look into the management fees, 2017 audited financial statements, grants, surplus and budget policies.
