RVCA presents budget to NG Council

North Grenville Council got a look at the 2018 Budget numbers from the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority.

RVCA General Manager Sommer Casgrain-Robertson and North Grenville Representative on the board for the RVCA, Barclay Cormack, presented the highlights from the 2018 budget last night.

In terms of spending, $8.9 million will be spent on operations and $1.3 million on capital and special projects.

The municipal levy increase is 2 percent, plus the assessment growth, for a total of 3.3 percent. That comes to just over $14 extra for a home worth $250,000.

Casgrain-Robertson says the RVCA provides valuable resources to municipalities and their residents including watershed monitoring and reporting, protecting people and property from natural hazards, sustainable development, watershed restoration and enhancement, and conservation lands and education.

Casgrain-Robertson says the RVCA has continued to implement its strategic plan, and support of trail development and the Ferguson Tree Nursery.
