Basil Borutski has been convicted of the murders of three women in the Madawaska Valley, including one from North Gower.
Borutski has been on trial since October, facing first-degree murder charges for the deaths of Carol Culleton, from North Gower, Anastasia Kuzyk, and Nathalie Warmerdam in 2015.
Deliberations began on Wednesday, and the jury rendered a verdict today. Borutski has been found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, and one count of second-degree murder.
His sentencing hearing has been set for December 5th and 6th.
Borutski’s trial started on October 4th. In that time, he remained silent for the most part, only speaking once to say ‘I’m not guilty’ on Wednesday.
