The water and wastewater rates in North Grenville are being updated.
During this week’s Committee of the Whole meeting there was a presentation by Watson and Associates Economists Limited on the water and wastewater system. Watson and Associates focused on what users needed to pay to keep the system update to date and sustainable. There will be a gradual increase of 17% until 2020, when it is reported to remain even until at least 2023.
The committee also proposed an amendment to how the municipality would deal with default payments involving water service. The amendment allows the town to charge the default payments against the property and collect in a manner similar to taxes. It was also noted that it also allows for discretion and service disconnection, if deemed necessary. Prior to the amendment the municipality sent employees to disconnect the water on location.
