The North Grenville Helmet Policy is nearly finished.
Now that the public survey has closed the municipality is working towards finalising the by-law. Helmets would be mandatory for anyone attending public skates, with a few exceptions. Skaters exempt from the new by-law include figure skaters, coaches, first aid and people wearing religious head-wear that the helmet does not fit over. The municipality will also have waivers that skaters can sign if they don’t want to wear a helmet.
Helmets will be provided, in a variety of sizes, as part of the skate and helmet lending service.
