Shine-the-Light on abuse against women

November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month and Leeds & Grenville Interval House want you to shine a light on the issue.

As part of a larger campaign the interval house is encouraging the public to light their porch with a purple light or string purple lights on their windows and trees. The goals of the campaign include raising awareness about men’s violence against women by turning cities purple, standing in support of abused women, helping victims understand they’re not to blame and making community support programs for domestic abuse more prevalent.

The interval house has purple LED light bulbs for sale at a cost of $6.00 each. They are available at the shelter and River Lily Boutique in Brockville. Anyone interested in purchasing Shine the Light lanterns or strings of battery operated LED lights is encouraged to contact the interval house.
