Fundraising campaign started for victims of barn fire

A Gofundme campaign has been started for victims of a barn fire in Nepean.

The farm is located on Prince of Wales Drive, north of Fallowfield Road and went up in flames on Friday afternoon.

According to the Gofundme campaign page, the Ruiter family have farmed at the Black Rapids Dairy Farm since 1962.

The page goes on to describe that while the family had insurance, the damage goes beyond what was insurable. The early estimates of damage reportedly exceeds $1 million.

The page explains that the family has always been first to step forward and help in times of need and now a group of friends from their community has come together to create the fundraising campaign.

More than $23,000 has been raised so far with a goal of $150,000. You can find the fundraiser page here.
