Rideau River waters expected to start receding very slowly

The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority says runoff and rainwater levels was expected to peak on Saturday.

The RVCA released a statement saying that while the water was expected to peak, it will take some time for the waters to drop down. One of the reasons is that the RVCA says water has to be released from the reservoir lakes upstream into the system. The RVCA says the water will be let through at a rate that won’t cause a further rise in water levels.

The RVCA says it will continue to monitor the situation closely.
