UPDATE: Eric, Will, Charleigh and Kacey raised just over $230.00 to support hairdonationottawa.org as well as donating over 40 inches of their hair. This hair will be used to create wigs for young cancer patients. Stephanie Richardson of Richardson Hair Design did the deed.
Original story: Two Grade 6 students of Merrickville Public School came up with an initiative as part of their Character Education and today as their big day. Â Â A representative of Hair Donation Ottawa will be coming to the school gym today to cut their hair for charity.
Eric and Will have been growing out their hair in order to donate it to produce wigs for children in our area. Others may participate as well but they need their parents’ permission. The boys are doing this in honour of their grandmothers who passed away as a result of cancer.
