UPDATE: Ottawa Police charge menacing motorcyclist

UPDATE: Ottawa Police report they have arrested a 25-year-old man in relation to these incidents. He faces two charges of pointing a firearm (the charge remains whether the gun is real or not) and two counts of breach of probation.  Police would like to thank the public for their speedy response in this matter.

ORIGINAL story:

The Ottawa Police Service has put out a call to the public to help identify a motorcyclist who is becoming a menace on the roadways. On a number of occasions this month, Ottawa Police and Ottawa region OPP have investigated public complaints of the biker, who drives erratically in traffic. When some vehicles did not allow room for passing, the motorcyclist waved a handgun.

The bike has been seen mostly in the west end of the city, most recently on Thursday morning near Dwyer Hill and Highway 7. Police are looking for the driver of a red Honda CBR. The only suspect description is that they wear a black helmet. The license plate is invalid. A photo has been posted on our website. If you see this driver, do not confront him but call 9-1-1 immediately.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Ottawa Police’s call centre at 613-236-1222, ext. 7300.    Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
