A number of North Grenville residents have benefited from an ongoing partnership between the Ottawa Heart Institute and Kemptville District Hospital.
KDH is celebrating the 10 year partnership with the institute’s Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation.
Staff at KDH says about 100 people have stopped smoking because of the program in North Grenville. Another 150 have also been reached by the program.
KDH says the program systematically identifies, provides treatment, and offers follow-up to patients who smoke as part of routine care.
KDH Vice President of Nursing and Clinical Services Cathy Burke says the system offers a great chance of success and they are committed to continue helping residents improve their heart health.
