Sustainable North Grenville is participating in an environmental impact assessment project regarding the proposed Energy East pipeline.
SNG says it will focus on the Rideau River system downstream from the Baxter Conservation Area where the pipeline would cross.
The idea is to track where oil in the event of a spill would end up. Wooden “drift cards” will be dropped into the river to see how far downstream they make it. People would be able to report where they are found online.
A total of 200 wooden cards will be dropped on June 5th at 10:30am. That is World Environment Day. You can learn more about SNG by going to their site here.
