MPP Steve Clark is calling on Education Minister Mitzie Hunter to put a stop to school closures.
Clark made the request Tuesday for the second time at Queen’s Park. Clark says two of the schools being considered for closure within the Upper Canada District School Board are located in two of the fastest growing municipalities in the riding. Clark says he wants the issue to be studied before more decisions are made.
Clark wants to see a provincial rural education strategy put into place. He believes the closures are unfair to rural residents.
Clark says he wants to see trustees reject the closures and join him in asking for the all-party committee to study the issues. Clark is asking to present to the trustees at next Thursday’s delegation board meeting regarding school closures.
