Jennifer Franssen recognized for 10 years of service to KYC

The Kemptville Youth Centre (KYC) is saying farewell to one of its champions. Long-time president Jennifer Franssen is moving to Alberta tomorrow to be closer to family. She has served as a volunteer board member with the KYC for over 10 years.

Operations Manager Barb Tobin says Franssen has always gone above and beyond for youth in the community. She noted Franssen was there as the KYC transitioned to its new location on Oxford Street. Tobin explained she put in significant hours as president, totalling a full-time job.

Franssen had a great passion for youth, according to Tobin, and she liked to be a part of the KYC. She says it’s a loss for North Grenville and gain for Western Canada. Tobin noted everything she’s done for the KYC is greatly appreciated. She explained Franssen is one of those people who won’t be forgotten.

The board of directors held a soiree in honour of Franssen last week and presented her with a plaque in recognition of her contributions to the KYC. A photo plaque will also be hung at the KYC. Board member Bruce Wehlau is stepping in as interim president.
