Merrickville is getting ready to host the 113th Eastern Ontario Firefighters’ Association Convention and Games next month.
Scheduled for Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14, the Merrickville Fire Department will be hosting other departments from around eastern Ontario for two days of events which include live concerts, games and a parade.
It gets started on the Friday night with live music from country music band Country Traditionz and then continues with the games on Saturday before culminating in a parade on Saturday night through downtown Merrickville and a performance by Greenhouse Revival at the Merrickville Community Centre.
Chantel Lasalle with the Merrickville Fire Department tells Moose FM that a lot of work goes in to putting on the games.
“It’s a huge undertaking and we’re a very small department in comparison to some others. It takes literally a team to make everything come together.”
Many of the events, including the concerts and games, are open to the public.
