Work on multi-year County Road 43 expansion project continues

Work continues on the County Road 43 expansion project in Kemptville.

North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says the second year of the multi-year rehabilitation project is underway and, between now and the fall, the four lanes will be complete between County Road 44 and Kemptville Creek Bridge.

Curbs are also being poured as are the finishing touches on the new bridge which Peckford says will be be far safer and better lit than the one it’s replacing while also featuring multi-use pathways on both sides.

She tells Moose FM that they are hoping to have the new bridge open in the near future.

“The concrete deck for the bridge was poured two or three weeks ago now and they are working very hard to get that bridge open, certainly by late summer or early fall.”

Peckford adds that all businesses along County Road 43 remain open and are happy to take care of their customers.

The full project will see a two-kilometre stretch of County Road 43, spanning from Colonnade Drive to County Road 44, widened to four lanes.
