Breaking: Conservative Michael Barrett reelected in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes

Breaking: Conservative Michael Barrett will be heading back to Ottawa.

Barrett, first elected in 2018, has been reelected in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.

He has 50.6 % of the vote with 119 of 240 polls reporting.

Liberal Lorna Jean Edmonds is second with 43.7 per cent share of the vote.

NDP’s Paul Lancione is third with 3.6 per cent.

Conservative Michael Barrett is seeking reelection in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.

Barrett was first elected in 2018.

Also on the ballot tonight in the riding: Lorna Jean Edmonds (Liberal), Paul Lancione (NDP), Randi Ramdeen (NDP) and Hailey Simpson (PPC).

Barrett won the 2021 federal election with 50.5 per cent of the vote, with Roberta L. Abbott of the Liberals in second place with 14,935 votes and Michelle Taylor of the NDP in third with 8,863.

The federal election has arrived and we will soon find out who will represent Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes in Ottawa.

Conservative Michael Barrett was first elected in the riding in 2018 and is seeking another term.

He is opposed by Liberal Lorna Jean Edmonds, Hailey Simpson with the People’s Party of Canada, the New Democrats’ Paul Lancione and Randi Ramdeen with the Green Party.

The election comes six weeks after Liberal Mark Carney was sworn in as prime minister.

Polls open at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning and close at 9:30 p.m.
