At their meeting on Wednesday night, Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario made a presentation to the board’s trustees about the financial and operational feasibility for the board to change bell times to be later for secondary students and earlier for elementary students.
Several scenarios, including a full flip of bell times, were brought forward.
Officials say the scenario showed a $2.03 million increase to transportation costs due to requirements for additional vehicles, more kilometres and other operational factors.
No recommendations came forward from trustees for the 2025-26 school year.
The board says it will continue to discuss the options with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, with the goal of improving student health and well-being.
