Driver’s urged to keep safety front of mind during winter storms

Police in the area say, for the most part, drivers are following the rules of the road and doing what they should during winter storms.

Grenville County OPP say they responded to seven reported collisions during our latest blast of winter between Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon.

Grenville County OPP Constable Dave Holmes tells Moose FM that most drivers are doing things like packing a winter travel safety kit that includes things like a blanket and water when heading out.

He says it’s very important that you make sure you can be seen while driving, especially at night, when the snow is coming down.

“Fortunately, a lot of vehicles these days do have automatic headlights but not all vehicles do, so we do also urge if you’re driving into a snowstorm make sure that you do use all your vehicle’s lighting system.”

Snow and freezing drizzle could sweep over our area as we close out the week.
