UPDATE: No threat to public or student safety after bomb threat

Update: 1:01 p.m. Monday

St. Mark Catholic School in Prescott has reopened following an investigation into a bomb threat.

In an update, officials with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario say students are now safe to return after the school worked in partnership with Grenville County OPP to thoroughly investigate the threat.

Officials say that the threat was left on the school’s voicemail and discovered Monday morning.

Resources are being sent to the school should any students be distressed over what happened.

Families are asked to contact the school if they have any concerns about what happened.

Update: 11:11 a.m. Monday

A police investigation is underway after St. Mark Catholic School in Prescott received a bomb threat.

Officials with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario say that the threat was left on the school’s voicemail and discovered Monday morning.

As a precautionary measure, all students were kept on their buses and were brought to South Grenville District High School.

Officials say they are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of their students and following their emergency plan.

Grenville County OPP say there is no threat to student or public safety but officers remain at the scene.

More details will be released as they become available.

Police say they are responding to a reported threat at St. Mark Catholic School in Prescott.

Grenville County OPP and the OPP Emergency Response Team are at the school on McAuley Street and say it is currently in a ‘hold and secure’ status.

Some students are still on their buses.

While it’s believed there is no actual threat to safety, the OPP say they will will conduct an investigation.

People are advised to avoid the area to allow for the investigation.
