A 28-year-old Jasper man is dead after a single-vehicle collision on New Year’s Day.
First responders were called to the collision on County Road 29, just south of Smiths Falls, around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Leeds County OPP say a car had left the road, entered the ditch and struck a tree.
It later caught fire and the lone occupant of the vehicle was removed from the car by a passerby and a police officer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision remains under investigation with assistance from an OPP collision reconstructionist.
