Cargo ship stuck in the St. Lawrence River east of Morrisburg

A large cargo ship is stuck in the St. Lawrence River after it ran aground in U.S. waters near Morrisburg.

Reports say the Tim S. Dool, was carrying a grain shipment when it became stuck around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

It’s not known why it ran aground but the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation says there were no injuries, no reported pollution and the vessel is not taking any water on.

A plan is currently being worked on to refloat the ship.

The ship is outside the navigation channel.

The Maritime News reports the ship is a Canada-flagged bulk carrier built in 1967, its owned by the Canadian Algoma Central Corporation.
