The Municipality of North Grenville is looking at its options when it comes to supporting the Ferguson Forest Centre.
The Ferguson Forest Centre Corporation, which manages the 300-acre tree nursery located on land that is leased from the municipality, has asked for $400,000 in assistance to keep the nursery operating.
The options that North Grenville are looking at includes approving a $400,000 bridge loan, with conditions attached, approving the loan but making it a requirement that the land uses and services be transferred back to the municipality, or saying no to the loan and working on developing a transition plan.
North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says they are listening carefully.
“We’re in conversation with the Ferguson Forest Centre Corporation on whether not the Municipality can play a bigger role when it comes to many of the recreational amenities that are provided on those lands.”
The request will be up for discussion at North Grenville Council’s meeting on Wednesday night.
