Canadian Coast Guard winding down 2024 Great Lakes operations

The Canadian Coast Guard’s Inshore Rescue Boat stations in Ontario are winding down their seasonal maritime search and rescue service.

That includes at their station on Hill Island on the St.Lawrence River which closed for the winter earlier this month.

The agency’s search and rescue lifeboat stations will remain in service until November and December.

Marine emergencies can be called in to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
