Merrickville-Wolford is putting close to $198,000 toward upgrading the village’s community centre.
The money was awarded as a trillium grant from the Province of Ontario.
Officials say the community centre has been a key gathering place for residents for 125 years and the funds will be used to add clearly defined formal entrances that are AODA compliant as well as new siding.
It will also be used on porticos, small roofs supported by columns at the front of a building, and a veranda.
It is expected that accessible interior and exterior doorways will be installed by year end, with the major exterior work taking place in 2025.
