Head-on collision claims life of 62-year-old South Dundas man

A 62-year-old man from South Dundas has died after a head-on collision south of Chesterville. Just after 9 o’clock this morning, Stormont, Dundas & OPP officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on County Road 7, near Winchester. A 2015 BMW Sport Utility Vehicle driven by Peter REMILLARD of South Dundas Township was northbound on County Road 7 and a 2010 Dodge SUV, driven by a 40-year-old woman from North Dundas Township was southbound. For reasons under investigation, the vehicles collided head-on. Both drivers (lone occupants) were transported to hospital where Mr. Remillard was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained while the female driver of the Dodge suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. OPP Technical Traffic Collision investigators are at the scene assisting SD&G OPP officers. A section of County Road 7, between St-Mary’s Road and County Road 8 remains closed to traffic with detours indicated. Mr. Remillard is husband of Kemptville Campus Director Patricia Remillard.
