“NGtransit” public transportation service launches January 15th, first ride is free

You’ll be able to start using North Grenville’s new public transit service two weeks into the New Year.

The municipality has announced that the service, which has been named “NGtransit,” launches on January 15th.

The new service, which was officially announced in November, will run seven days a week, with rides costing $5 one-way for adults and $3 one-way for youth ages 12-19.

It’s an expansion of North Grenville’s existing “Accessible Transit Service” for seniors and disabled people.

Staff members say you’ll need to pre-register if you want to book a ride with the service. Registration opens on January 8th, and anyone who registers will be able to take their first ride for free.

You’ll be able to register and book rides on the municipality’s website or over the phone. A smartphone app is also in the works, but there isn’t a release date for the app yet.
