Lions Club donates $10,000 to WDMH Foundation for Dundas Manor

$10,000 has been donated towards a project to improve and upgrade a local long-term care home, and more is on the way.

The Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) Foundation is thanking the Winchester Lions Club for the donation to its ongoing project to rebuild Dundas Manor. The organization has also pledged to donate $10,000 more in the coming weeks.

“Dundas Manor is the only long-term care home in North and South Dundas and neighbours and friends are well cared for there every day,” explains Lions Club President Tammy Cinnamon. “With a new building, the Dundas Manor team can do even more for our community. We are happy to help.”

The new building for the facility will allow it to take on thirty more residents and will include improved ventilation and more closed-off rooms to help prevent the spread of diseases like COVID-19.

It’s been in the works for several years, and staff members say the foundation needs roughly $18-million in community funding to complete it.

To date, staff say roughly $12-million has been raised for the project so far.
